MTV's Greatest Badasses of All Time

I was a founding member and lead producer of the Greatest Badasses of All Time campaign, where pop culture’s greatest characters were pitted against each other in a bracket-style tournament, voted on by fans and by an MTV panel including myself, Kurt Loder, reporter Larry Carroll, and Managing Editor Josh Horowitz. The initiative consisted of daily articles, MTV.com homepage support, and blogs highlighting the bracket.

We also involved a number of Hollywood talent to give their own opinions, including Edgar Wright (director, Shaun of the Dead), Frank Darabont (director, The Shawshank Redemption), Rose McGowan (actress, Grindhouse), Richard Kelly (writer/director, Donnie Darko), David Goyer (co-writer, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight), John August (writer, Go), Diablo Cody (writer, Juno), and James Gunn (director, Guardians of the Galaxy).

The final champion, the grizzled detective Harry Callahan from Dirty Harry, was announced during a New York Comic Con panel, with Clint Eastwood filming an acceptance speech.

The aforementioned panel featured an irreverent mix of celebrities, which included musician Method Man, comedians Judah Friedlander and Chuck Nice, and filmmaker James Toback, who debated the list as our picks were revealed. Additionally, we received reactions from a number of the actors portraying the characters on the list, including Mel Gibson, Sigourney Weaver, and Bruce Willis,
